Dr. A. Somashekar Murthy, M.A., M.Ed., M.Phil., Ph.D. is a renowned educator and the Professor and Principal of Dr. Ambedkar College of Education, Bengaluru. With over three decades of experience in academia. Specializing in educational psychology, teacher education, and population education, he has contributed extensively to teaching, research, and academic administration. A recipient of the Priyadarshini Indira Gandhi Award and Vishwa Chethana Award. Dr. Murthy has supervised Ph.D. candidates, authored research on educational institutions, and represented Bengaluru University internationally to establish study centers. Prof. Krishna Raj, a luminary in the field of economics, brings with him an illustrious career spanning over 26 years as a researcher, teacher, supervisor, and policy advisor to central and state governments. Currently serving as a Professor at the Centre for Economic Studies and Policy, Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC), Bengaluru, he holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Mysore and has dedicated his life to the study and advocacy of environmental economics, climate change, sustainable development, natural resource management, and inclusive growth.
His global contributions include serving as the ICCR Chair Professor on Indian Economy at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Seoul, South Korea, and as a Visiting Scholar at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, USA, where he collaborated on groundbreaking research addressing water conflicts, biodiversity conservation, and the economic costs of environmental degradation. Prof. Krishna Raj has also been invited to renowned global platforms such as the NITI Aayog Think Tank on G20 policies and the Global Summit on Life Economy, reflecting his stature as a thought leader in his field.
His work has significantly influenced policy decisions in areas such as education, infrastructure, taxation, and environmental conservation, and his reports including the socio-economic analysis of the Bengaluru-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor Project, have received widespread acclaim. As a mentor, he has guided numerous Ph.D. scholars and continues to inspire the next generation of researchers with his insights and dedication. With over 135 invited lectures, 7 published books, 29 research papers, and several impactful articles, his expertise has reached academic policy-making and public domains alike. Prof. Krishna Raj’s contributions have not only shaped academic discourse but also influenced government policies at the highest levels including recommendations to reduce inequalities in accessing education through the New Education Policy 2020 and strategies for resource management through asset monetization initiatives.
